With 30 years of inspirational and thought provoking volumes of information gained from reading, listening to podcasts and listening to coaches, leaders and speakers from various walks of life, it seems foolish to keep this information to just myself and my family. So I won't.
There must be a reason I read all those books and made sure to read so many of them with a fluorescent pen in my right hand so I could highlight passages and quotes to come back to in the future. In the last few years, it's been more of a cut and paste from something I read or subscribe to online into my treasured "Quotes and Reminders" word document I maintain and which grows slowly, page by page, over the years.
This is year 1 of See, Live, Eat and each December, I will list 20 "Quotes to Remember". Here's this years list:
"Concentrate every minute on doing what's in front of you." - Marcus Aurelius
"Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. Even if one were to walk for one's health and it were constantly one station ahead—I would still say: Walk! Besides, it is also apparent that in walking one constantly gets as close to well-being as possible, even if one does not quite reach it—but by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Health and salvation can be found only in motion... if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.” - Theologian and philosopher Soren Kierkegaard
"You can carve out a very good career simply by being the most reliable person on the team. You would not think that always showing up on time, hitting every deadline, and responding quickly and professionally to all communication would be such a differentiator, but these traits are always in short supply.” - Author James Clear
"Success isn't owned. It's leased, and rent is due every day." - Former NFL Great JJ Watt
"Wisdom is not communicable. The wisdom which a wise man tries to communicate always sounds foolish." - Author Herman Hesse
"Find something your good at and that people will pay you for and go hard, really hard at it." - Author, Entrepreneur and Podcast Host Scott Galloway
"The more things you have, the more things you have to manage. Simplicity isn't merely cheaper, it's easier.” - James Clear
"Later, you’ll be nostalgic for right now." - Startup founder Nabeel S. Qureshi
"Mastery is the best goal because the rich can't buy it, the impatient can't rush it, the privileged can't inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status.” - Entrepreneur and author Derek Sivers on the value of mastering something.
"If you're trying to choose between two theories and one gives you an excuse for being lazy, the other one is probably right.” - Entrepreneur and investor Paul Graham on fooling yourself
"In every challenge or even tragedy, there is an opportunity. And if you train yourself to look for the opportunity, you will be able to take control of the situation and even turn it into a positive or if it can't be turned into something good, at least something good could come out of it.” - Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson on dealing with challenges
"Be sure to look for simple solutions. If the answer isn't simple, it's probably not the right answer." - Author and Podcast Host Tim Ferriss
"Don't expect to be motivated every day to get out there and make things happen. You won't be. Don't count on motivation. Count on Discipline." - Inspirational and motivational speaker Jocko Willink

"When things are going wrong, when multiple problems are occurring all at once, when things get overwhelming, you have to prioritize and execute. Take a step back. Detach from the mayhem. Look at the situation and assess the multitude of problems, tasks or issues. Choose the one thing that is going to have the biggest impact and execute on that." - Jocko Willink
"Happiness is wanting what you have." - comedian and actor Bryan Callen
"We must all either wear out or rust out, every one of us. My choice is to wear out." - Theodore Roosevelt
